Obama updated the old line for today's crowd. What he actually said was "I did not mislead the American people." A little smoother than Richard Nixon but just as ineffective. He promised to work hard to fix the problem by encouraging insurance companies to reinstate cancelled policies for 12 months under an expansion of the ACA's grandfathering principle.
Hmmm. Well first of all the insurance companies don't have to do so and why would they want to go the trouble just for 12 months.
In my opinion this speech was simply a part of the overall plan of creating a single payer system in America. I think Obama knew years ago that he would be giving this speech at this point in the process. I think the purpose of this particular speech was to set the stage for the next con. That of pushing for more government intervention to 'simplify things.' Why do I say this? He emphasized over and over how complicated it is to buy insurance and how hard it was to set up a website to facilitate that. By a raise of hands how many believe that the government that has the technical know how to track billions of communications of Americans and many people in foreign nations can't put together a website that actually works? Let's face facts. It wasn't meant to work. I predict Obama will continue to harp on the complications and difficulties of navigating heath insurance in general until he can get enough dumbed down sheeple to demand more government intervention which is exactly what he wants.
